Meta Reality Labs

In late 2021 Facebook changed their name to Meta and embraced the concept of the Metaverse. Having had my eye on Augmented and Virtual Reality for a few years, I saw this as a sign that the industry and market were starting to align with examples from Ready Player One and Free Guy. In early 2022 I left my friends at fubo in order to pursue this adventure within Reality Labs at Meta.

The team I support within the VR organization at Meta builds the core navigational elements (Application Library / System Navigation) of the Quest Operating System. We are figuring out how to help users navigate both Mixed and Virtual Reality experiences like teleporting you throughout the embodied internet or bringing a t-rex to your living room through the wall.

The race is on for the next computing platform. Are there doubters? Of course. I wouldn’t be trying to build it if I knew the road would be easy. Now it’s time to change the world on the biggest scale of my career so far.

My latest venture has been a weekly newsletter - Vision Quest - which is focused on Artificial Intelligence and Spatial Computing. We highlight how those technologies will be applied to fields like Personal Computing, Robotics and Biotech to bring science fiction to life.

From 2018 to 2022 at fuboTV we were blurring the lines of old school cable television with the interactive and immersive capabilities of streaming. While the world was ditching traditional cable, we were pushing the limits of the devices that support our applications.

Looking forward to seeing how the company and product is doing in 2030.

NBA League Pass

One of my favorite experiences was building the International NBA League Pass Roku Channel. Basketball is one of my favorite sports. Through code and design we connected millions of people around the planet to content created by and for the NBA.
